ABOUT US
The
Farmers Market Authority (FMA)
is a state agency established to
assist in the marketing of
agricultural products by
providing information,
leadership, and modern
facilities necessary to move
agricultural products from the
farm to the consumer. This
assures the consumer a better
quality product at a reasonable
price and a fair return to the
producer by providing a
convenient, dependable place
through which producers and
buyers may carry on the process
of marketing.
The FMA is controlled by a
nine-member Board of Directors
with one member from each
Congressional District, one
At-Large, and the Commissioner
of Agriculture and Industries.
PURPOSE
- To promote direct
marketing avenues for
Alabama agricultural
products.
- To advocate for the
interest and respond to the
needs of farmers markets and
direct market farmers.
- To educate farmers and
consumers about the benefits
of direct marketing and the
importance of supporting
local agriculture and their
communities.

Our Logo
Our logo emphasizes the A
in Alabama and Authority
to create a symbol. The
green leaf in the center
of the A represents
agricultural commodities
and starts the circular
movement of product around
the letterform, subtly
implying the @ symbol
(relevant to today's
commerce), but more so
linking the product to the
Authority which provides
the connection between
producers and consumers.
Green is chosen as the
second color for its
freshness and its
suitability as a food
color. |
